tankssssss <3 LOVE YAAAA
Earlier today I was casually browsing my twitter feed when all of a sudden, people in happy couples were exploding with angry tweets about “single people hating on valentines day because they don’t have anyone to share it with, and they should get over it”. A little offended, I thought to myself. Why did I hate Valentines Day so much? Although being single does make up about 20% of why I do hate this day so much, it is not the only reason. I finally came to the conclusion that I dread Valentines Day because of the following:
Those stupid mailboxes you get in grade school:
I do still admit I am a hopeless romantic. I still dream of my wedding, and getting a pretty dress. Let it be known that I am not cynical about love in general, just February 14. As a young child, I was exposed to some of the greatest love stories, including that of my darling parents. I would go to school with my class set of valentines, and each year, I would look at disappointing turnout in my mailbox. I didn’t get as many valentines as some of my friends, this hurt my feelings, and is what I believe stemmed my hatred of this day. Nobody’s ever bought me a rose, or asked me to be their valentine, so in all fairness I should be allowed to despise this day. Each year I have expectations of something grand happening and it is always disappointing.
Excessive hand holding, french kissing, and ass grabbing seen in the hallways:
Need I explain more. I already see this on a daily basis, why must I see the amplified version on Valentines Day. Are you trying to make me regret smiling at you earlier?
Added hoopla to say “I love you”
Because saying the words arn’t enough, let’s add some chocolate, sappy cards, candy, a romantic comedy, dinner at an expensive restaurant, an abundance of roses, and unusually large stuffed animals, because it needs to be special on this one day. WHAT IS THAT ABOUT? Apparently people don’t feel the need to pretend to be romantic on all other days of the year. I don’t understand.
I guess what I’m trying to say, is Valentines Day is stupid. That’s why I celebrate anti-valentines day while watching horror movies, and making fun of people. JOIN ME WON’T YOU?
have a happy anti-valentines day!
Love, Bianca
This week was my first back at school starting semester two AKA THE LAST SEMESTER OF MY ENTIRE HIGH SCHOOL EXISTENCE!!!! Pretty crazy if you ask me. This week was filled with a lot of boring and exciting moments in my dull life. lets get started with some of my favourites!
Tuesday Europe Meeting: I will be traveling to Europe for 13 days in mid March for a school trip and one of the final meetings was this week. It was more of a GET-TO-KNOW-THE-OTHER-STUDENTS type of thing.. that being said… this should be an interesting trip.

Peer Tutoring Grade 11 Drama: nothing says fun like re-living your glory days like trying to teach children how to act when you yourself are still unsure about most things. Although, I do love the games.

Graduation Photos: Where do I even begin? The graduation gown I had to wear was too short for my arms, and a mini-skirt in length. I wore a hat worn by god knows how many other people, and as the photographer was taking pictures of me, she turned my chair and said AND I QUOTE ” oh yeah.. that is for sure your good side”. The mood of the event quickly turned when the graduation photos turned into a glamour shot photo shoot… here’s hoping mom will buy the wallets…

Nykhol returns home from Cuba: On Tuesday night my best friend decided to grace me with her presence once again after fully abandoning me in the frozen tundra of the great Canadian winter (but not actually). She ambushed by running into my house and shouting ” MEATBALL”. Reunited and it felt so good. She promised to never leave me again.

If you want to ask me a question, or have any general comments you can post them in my ask box WAYYYYYYYY UP THERE… go on.. you know you want to…
So it’s the start of 2012, and you take a look in the mirror. But what do you see? Who do you see? Whether it’s a few pounds, or some old ratty clothes, you know you want 2012 to be your year, and why shouldn’t you? Joining a gym, and buying new clothes can be costly, and speaking from a students perspective, I am a sucker for a great deal. Although 2011 was good I want 2012 to be great, so here is my top 5 things to do to to improve you in 2012 (on a dime).
5 - So simple, yet helps soooo much pack a healthy lunch. Not only is it super good for your body to have a salad and veggies, it’s also super healthy for your wallet. Say good-bye to disgusting cafeteria food (trust me.. I am a repeat offender of the school cafeteria). You will feel so much better after you eat something that is actually good for you, as opposed to something that is made with chemicals.. ew.
4 - Walk instead of drive. Another simple one. Obviously not walking somewhere ridiculous when it’s super cold out, but since here in southern Canada it’s unreasonably warm this time of year, I have been fortunate enough to walk home from school and not die from hypothermia.yay!
3 - Color your own hair. One of my personal favs! I’ve been doing this for a few years now. I always tend to use a wash out dye that is a few shades deeper than my natural chestnut brown. Some of the great benefits of d.i.y-ing your hair is that it only costs a fraction of what it would cost to get it done in a salon (around 10 dollars at any drug store), and you get to control it all yourself. Don’t worry if you feel like you can’t do it yourself the first couple of times. Just ask one of your friends to do it for you, and you can return the favor when she wants her hair done! My best friend Nykhol and I often do each other hair favors! ONE THING TO REMEMBER: when choosing a box color I only recommend to go darker. I have never gone lighter from a box, as I do not trust at home bleach. Red shades are risky because they often do not come out the same on the box (my friend Nicky learned that the hard way, but rocked it nonetheless). And when using at home color, always remember the 2 shade rule! never go over 2 shades lighter, or darker then your current color. HAVE FUN!
2 - Join a gym. Since it’s January and most people have the new years resolution of getting fit, or losing weight gym ads will be everywhere. Joining a gym can be pricey but at this time of year most gyms are offering free trials or reduced pricing! I myself have just signed up for a free trial at a gym. Also if you’re looking around for the best price, always ask what kind of discounts a student can get, as many gyms do have student rates! To make your workouts more exhilarating, make a playlist on your i pod of songs to get you motivated to go that extra mile on the treadmill!
1 - My absolute favourite! GO SHOPPING!!!!! All of my friends know that I do love a good sale, and with most of the winter and holiday things on the way out, now is the right time to hit the mall. A lot of stores are offering amazing sales right now. But if buying a lot at once is not in your budget, I am a huge fan of going out a couple of times a month and spending some money on a few staple pieces, and if you happen to be out and see something you like buy it!
That is pretty much it for my top 5 things to do to re-invent you this year! I wish all of my readers a happy, and healthy new year!
Until next week!
